From fiery peaks and turquoise seas, to ancient architecture and Michelin star meals, Sicily really does have it all.
Over the past few years I’ve explored eight of its towns and cities and been lucky enough to experience just a little of its raw nature in-between.
Like many people who visit, I’ve realised that Sicily is generally better value than mainland Italy and embraces a completely unique heritage. It’s also home to some of the most active volcanoes and rugged hiking terrain in Europe, while still being very easy to travel around. This makes it the perfect destination for a mixed bag of interests, regardless of how much time you have to spare.
Here are just a few of my favourite adventures!
Hiking to the lava craters of Stromboli at night
Train and boat travel around the island
Lunching at the old port of Syracuse
A day out at Mondello and its national park
On the trail of Agrigento’s ancient temples
