Each evening in Sorrento, I’d walk up to the rooftop of my hostel and spend an hour watching the sun disappear over the horizon.
Each evening, it was slightly different but always built up of many layers: the array of different clouds suspended in front of the distant sky; the remains of plane trails that had dissipated to nothing more than a wisp; the deep blues of nearby land and its surrounding sea; and the dark silhouettes of the trees just below me.
Sorrento sunsets are some of the best.

Sorrento was a stop on my Grand Tour of Italy.
