In Pictures: Trpejca, Macedonia

A small fishing village on the shores of Lake Ohrid, Trpejca is accessible by road but better approached by boat.

A shallow bay is backed by only a few rows of houses that sport wide wooden balconies. They probably provide one of the most UNESCO-protected views in the world.

I spent barely an hour there, but immediately felt welcome. From the unassuming café on the pebbly beach, to the backstreets of the village where locals busied themselves with their garden crops, Trpejca was a short but sweet highlight of my time in Macedonia.
